Laos III - kurz durch (31.3.-2.4.)

Auf laotischer Seite will der Zöllner 200 Baht Bearbeitungsgebühr. Wir sagen nein und sein Chef lächelt uns gleich an und sagt, dass sein Untergebener gemeint hat, dass heute Sonntag ist. Da aber ein Wochentag ist, müssen wir nichts zahlen. Ach ja, genau!

Die Dame, die das Einfuhrpapier ausstellt, ist da schon hartnäckiger. Sie will 75.000 Kip, also €7, Bearbeitungsgebühr, obwohl wir nur eine Rechnung über 25.000 Kip erhalten. Wir sagen ihr, dass wir nur zahlen, wenn wir eine Rechnung bekommen. Da sie uns keine ausstellen kann wollen wir ihren Namen, Dienstnummer und Unterschrift. Auch da weigert sie sich. Nach 10 Minuten geht sie bereits auf 50.000 Kip runter. Uns ist das immer noch zu viel. Als ein Thai kommt sagt sie ihm auf Thai, dass er ihr 200 Baht geben soll und er erhält die 100 Baht zurück, sobald wir weg sind. Wir lenken ein und sagen gleich: „Mai dschai yie roy baht, et roy baht!“ (Nein, nicht 200 Baht, sondern 100 Baht!). Ihr Lachen verschwindet, wir sollen die belegten 25.000 Kip zahlen und weiter fahren. Also haben wir mit 25 Minuten Hartnäckigkeit €5 gespart!

Wir fahren heute noch bis zum Grenzort Boten, wo wir auf einer Wiese etwas abseits der Straße, doch im Blickfeld der Vorbeifahrenden parken.

On Lao side, the customs officer wants to have a 200 Baht stamping fee. We tell him that we won't pay it and his boss then just smiles and tells us that his worker thought that today is Sunday and that one has to pay this stamping fee on weekends. Yeah, well, we somehow don't buy that excuse.

The woman who is preparing the temporary import documents even wants to have 75,000 Kip (€7), although we only get an invoice for 25.000 Kip. We tell her that we are only willing to pay if we get an invoice, which she is not willing to give us. After 10 minutes she reduces it to 50,000 Kip and again we tell her that we will only pay what's stated on the bill. Then, a Thai comes and she tells him in Thai that he should give her 200 Baht, of which he will get back 100 Baht when we are gone. We tell him in Thai that this is a hoax because we know that it is only 100 Baht and the woman becomes pale. She then tells us to pay 25,000 Kip. So, arguing for 25 minutes saved us €5!

Today, we even make it to the Chinese border at Boten. We park our car at a grassy patch off the road, where it is really quiet.

Wir warten heute auf den Rest unserer China-Durchfahrtstruppe, doch wir haben auch noch einiges vor der Einreise nach China zu tun. Kehui hat uns geschrieben, dass wir das Moped unter einer Plane verstecken sollen, dann sollte die Einfuhr kein Problem sein. Die Benzinzufuhr haben wir bereits gekappt damit es aussieht, als würde es nicht funktionieren. Die getrockneten Champignons und die H-Milch verstecken wir sicherheitshalber auch.

Das Auto wird noch geputzt und auf Hochglanz gebracht, denn der erste Eindruck zählt ja bekanntlich. Als die Dämmerung einsetzt und wir von unseren Mitreisenden noch immer nichts sehen, werden wir zwar etwas stutzig, sagen uns aber zugleich, dass vermutlich nicht so nah an der Grenze nächtigen wollen.

We are waiting for the others who are driving with us through China, but we also have a lot to do before we can enter China. Kehui has told us that we have to hide the scooter underneath a blanket and then it should not be a problem to bring the scooter to China. We have already plugged out the connection between tank and motor, so that it seems that the scooter doesn't work. I also hide the dried mushrooms and the UHT-milk – just in case.

We also clean the car, because the first impression counts. When it is getting dusk and the others have not arrived yet we are a little bit worried but tell ourselves at the same time that maybe they don't want to stay so close to the border.

Heute reisen wir nach China ein. Wir stehen bereits um 6 Uhr auf, damit wir spätestens um 8 Uhr an der Grenze sind. Da die anderen noch immer nicht da sind, fahren wir nochmals runter zum Customs, wo wir auch gleich unsere Autoausfuhr-Zettel abgeben. Bei einem Hotel lese ich meine Mails, denn wenn die Tour verschoben worden wäre, hätte uns doch jemand geschrieben. Facebook geht leider nicht mehr, doch wir beratschlagen uns und gehen davon aus, dass doch alle Kanäle benutzt werden würden, wenn die Tour echt verschoben worden wäre. Kathi schreibe ich noch ein Mail, dass wir spätestens um 9:30 Uhr aus Laos ausreisen. Auch direkt an der Grenze sehen wir sie nicht.

Today we are entering China! We are getting up as early as 6 a.m. because we want to be at the border no later than 8. As the other have still not shown up, we drive down again to customs, where we are handing in our temporary import papers. At a hotel I check my mails to see if the tour has changed, but if this were the case, our agent or the others would have sent me a mail, which they haven't. We talk it over and I decide to send an e-mail to Kathi that we are leaving Laos at 9:30. We also don't spot them at the border itself.
